AFC agrees media rights deal with RCTI+ in the Philippines!

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has today announced RCTI+ as the new media partner in the Philippines to broadcast the AFC’s competitions for 2021.

The deal comprises all major AFC national team and club competitions including the final round of the AFC Asian Qualifiers – Road to Qatar, the AFC Champions League and the AFC Cup, until the end of the 2021 season.

Previously focused on Indonesia, RCTI+, an OTT platform operated by MNC (PT Media Nusantara Citra), has now expanded its reach into more Southeast Asian markets including the Philippines.

Bringing the AFC competitions to the Philippines, RCTI+ proactively moves to broaden its footprint beyond its home market with its first major sports programme shown outside of Indonesia. Fans of Asian football will be able to enjoy all matches live on RCTI+.

Dato’ Windsor John, the AFC General Secretary, said, “The AFC is delighted to enter into this agreement with RCTI+ to broadcast the AFC’s world-class competitions in the Philippines.”

“As we have witnessed in the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 where the Azkals made their debut as well as this season’s AFC Champions League, where clubs from the Philippines performed commendably in their maiden campaign, football in the country has grown exponentially in the last decade.”

“The AFC’s Vision has made clear our ambitions to confirm football as Asia’s most popular sport, so we thank RCTI+ for their confidence and sharing our belief in strengthening the growth of the game across the Continent.”

Valencia Tanoesoedibjo, Managing Director of RCTI+ said, “We are very happy to broadcast the AFC matches on RCTI+. I hope that with the broadcast of these matches, the community of football fans on the RCTI+ platform will expand even more. Football matches can be easily accessed via RCTI+, without registration and free of charge.”

Patrick Murphy, Board Member and CEO at Football Marketing Asia said, “We are delighted to welcome RCTI+ as our valued media partner in the Philippines. By growing its footprint across the region, RCTI+ will bring AFC national team and club football to more fans in Southeast Asia in 2021. We are looking forward to working with RCTI+ to further grow the fanbase of and excitement for Asia’s top football competitions.”
