AFC Bournemouth appoint Tiago Pinto as president of football operations!

AFC Bournemouth have confirmed the appointment of Tiago Pinto as its new president of football operations.

The 39-year-old will start in his role next week and will work with the club’s chief executive Neill Blake and technical director Simon Francis on all football matters.

Tiago arrives at Vitality Stadium having spent the past three years as general manager of AS Roma, a successful period that saw the Giallorossi win the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2022 and reach the final of the UEFA Europa League last season.

AFC Bournemouth chairman and owner Bill Foley said, “We’re excited to bring Tiago to the club. Neill and Simon have worked closely with him on a number of deals in recent seasons and have always been very impressed by him.”

“Tiago arrives with great experience at some high-profile clubs already in his young career. Hiring somebody with his background reinforces the ambition that we have to succeed in the Premier League and in our multi-club project.”

Hailing from Portugal, Tiago spent nine years with S.L. Benfica and was director of football between 2017 and 2020. During his time there, the Eagles won the league title and featured regularly in the UEFA Champions League.

Tiago said, “I’m very happy to be joining AFC Bournemouth during such an exciting time for the club.”

“I would like to express my gratitude to Bill, Neill and Simon. The vision that they have laid out to me is something that I can’t wait to be a part of.”

“I look forward to getting to work over the summer as we prepare for the new season.”
