AFC Cup Club Licensing Workshop pushes MAs forward!

The AFC Cup Club Licensing Workshop started at the Asian Football Confederation House on Monday, bringing together club licensing managers from across East Asia.

The workshop, organised by the AFC Member Association Development Department, is not only a refresher on procedures and expectations but also to strengthen the participants’ understanding of club licensing matters, especially on the AFC Cup.

A total of 14 club licensing managers are attending the two-day workshop.

In line with AFC’s vision and mission – which focuses on the success of Asian teams on the world’s biggest stages and strengthen the level of fan engagement to ensure football is the number one sport throughout the continent – the workshop also highlighted various topics such as Youth Development Programme and Coaching Qualification, Pre-Competition Medical Assessment, Audited Annual Financial Statements as well as Stadium Checklist.

The Club Licensing Managers of the MAs were reminded that any payments made by Clubs to its players outside the contract will be considered as a challenge to the integrity of football which is required to be reported to the AFC.

There was also a practical session which provided step-by-step implementation guidance on CLAS (Club Licensing Administration System) for Member Associations’ club licensing managers as well as in-depth information on the criteria and requirements for the successful implementation of Club Licensing System in their MAs.

FIFA representatives Sebastian Neuf and Robert Middleby were among the attendees at the workshop.
