AFC President offers support to Syrian football!

Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa today met with the newly elected President of the Syrian Football Association (SFA) Salah Eddin Ramadan here in the capital of Malaysia.
Shaikh Salman held a wide-ranging discussion on matters of common interest with Salah Eddin Ramadan, who was elected as the SFA President in the month of May this year.

The diverse development programmes offered by the AFC in a spirit of seamless cooperation to all its Member Associations, and how the SFA could best utilise these tailormade opportunities optimally, were at the heart of the talks between the two Presidents.

The significance and potential of Syrian football, the country’s most passionately supported sport, to develop solidarity throughout its society and build a greater understanding amongst its people were also noted.

“The AFC pledges its unwavering commitment to support all football activities undertaken by the SFA under the stewardship of President Salah Eddin Ramadan as we have a vast array of resources, offers and tailored support for all our Member Associations to help them succeed on and off the pitch,” said Shaikh Salman.

The AFC President emphasised the importance of stability and strong governance in delivering the aims and values of football to all stakeholders.

“The AFC and FIFA have recently engaged closely with the SFA to improve its governance structures and fundamental processes, and this will go a long way towards providing stability in the football pyramid,” said Shaikh Salman, while committing to continuing the AFC’s assistance to the SFA in this critical area.

The AFC’s solid partnership with the SFA was recognised by SFA President Salah Eddin Ramadan, who was also accompanied by the Association’s Vice President Abdul Rhman Al Khatib.

President Ramadan expressed his desire of maximising the impact of the AFC’s many programmes for the benefit of Syrian football and extended an invitation to the AFC President to visit Syria in the near future.
