AFC President reinforces support towards strengthening football in Nepal!

Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa today met with the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) President Pankaj Bikram Nembang in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to discuss the future development of the game in the football-loving nation.

The AFC President congratulated newly-elected President Nembang on his recent mandate, adding that his victory in July this year was testament to the faith and confidence the Nepali football family had in his capabilities.

Shaikh Salman also shared the wide range of AFC programmes in the areas of technical, refereeing and development that continued to leave a profound impact on Nepalese football and underlined the strong passion for the game in the country.

“Having been to Nepal on several occasions, I have witnessed first-hand the incredible passion for the beautiful game in Nepal,” said the AFC President.

“The AFC has underlined its Vision of ensuring football remains the Continent’s most popular sport and we are steadfast in our commitment to unlock the vast potential of our great game under the new leadership of President Nembang,” added Shaikh Salman.

At the same time, the AFC has, over the years, stood in solidarity with the ANFA, particularly during the devastating earthquakes in April and May 2015, with the Confederation funding the construction of a new school building in Sindhupalchowk in Northern Nepal.

More recently, the AFC, through the AFC Dream Asia Foundation, has provided its assistance to empower the country’s most vulnerable through meaningful programmes which include the “Prison Football, Rehabilitation Through Football” project and the “Feed the Hungry” campaign.

President Nembang expressed his gratitude to the AFC President for his continued support in developing football in Nepal and expressed his confidence in further deepening the spirit of collaboration between the AFC and ANFA.
