Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President congratulated the Mongolian Football Federation (MFF) on their first-ever online Golden Ball celebration of the Mongolian football season.
In the opening address for the event which has been held since 2015, Shaik Salman praised the MFF President and AFC Vice President Ganbaatar Amgalanbaatar for the progress that Mongolian football has made under his leadership.
The AFC President said: “It has been an unprecedented year for the world, and for global football. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought great challenges to the game that we love. But I must congratulate the Mongolian football family for ensuring the safe completion of the Mongolian National Football and Futsal Leagues in 2020.
“None of this would have been possible without the leadership of Ganbaatar Amgalanbaatar and the dedication and commitment of the MFF administration. All of whom have worked tirelessly to bring great joy to Mongolian fans at a time when they needed it the most.
“So, as you honour the achievements of Mongolian football on the pitch, I would like to applaud the contributions work of everyone off the pitch. It is through their hard work that tonight’s celebrations have become a reality.”
Shaikh Salman added his congratulations to all the winners, as well as the nominees, of the MFF Golden Ball Awards who have done so much to inspire the next generation of Mongolia’s football stars.
The ceremony was broadcast live on Mongolian Sport TV, SPS TV, from its TV station with more than 500 spectators and Award nominees attending by online conference tools. Arsene Wenger, FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development, Mongolia’s young football prodigy Ganbayar Ganbold, who plays for Puskas Academia in Hungary, and Borussia Dortmund’s Karl-Heinz Riedle also sent their congratulations.
