Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa on Sunday had an audience with His Majesty the King of Malaysia Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah at the Istana Negara here in the capital of Malaysia.
Shaikh Salman expressed his profound gratitude for the key role His Majesty Al-Sultan Abdullah played in helping and guiding the AFC secure the parcel of land in Putrajaya upon which a state-of-the-art stadium is now going to be built in close collaboration with FIFA.
The AFC President also provided His Majesty Al-Sultan Abdullah with an update on the current developments in Asian football, including the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar as well as the hosting of the AFC Asian Cup 2023™ by Qatar.
His Majesty Al-Sultan Abdullah, a recipient of the prestigious AFC Diamond of Asia accolade, is well known for his deep passion for the game and has previously served both the AFC and FIFA in various senior capacities.
