AFC referees to officiate in 2021 FIFA Club World Cup final!

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s talented match officials have been appointed to take charge of the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup – UAE Final between Chelsea FC and Palmeiras on Saturday, February 12.

Australian referee Chris Beath and assistant referees Anton Shchetinin and Ashley Beecham will officiate the anticipated final at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium while Ammar Aljneibi from the UAE has been selected as support Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

This will be another personal landmark for Beath and Shchetinin who were appointed to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Men’s Gold medal match between Brazil and Spain last year.

Earlier in the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup – UAE, the Australian trio also took charge of the second round match between Al Ahly SC and CF Monterrey alongside Aljneibi as the Assistant VAR.

The AFC’s match officials have been regularly selected to officiate in global football competitions, underlining the impact of the AFC’s efforts to provide the best possible support and education for its officials.
