The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Club Licensing Task Force reinforced its commitment to enhance the professionalism of club football in the Continent through closer collaboration with the AFC Member Associations and their clubs at its third meeting on Friday, October 6 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
While the Task Force, led by Chairman Shoji Fujumura (JPN), acknowledged the significant progress and ever-growing impact of the club licensing system in Asia, Members also emphasised the need to provide tailor-made solutions for each Member Association.
In the spirit of inclusivity and interest of professional football development, the Task Force also agreed to exempt clubs from Member Associations, faced with unique circumstances, which include North Korea Football Association, from the club licensing requirement to participate in the 2018 AFC Cup Competition on the condition that requirements will be met within a reasonable customised timeframe.
Chairman Shoji Fujumura was also pleased to note the extensive efforts undertaken by the AFC Club Licensing Unit, which include the AFC Inspiring League Forum, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 3/4, 2017 as well as the upcoming AFC Club Licensing Annual Seminar, which is scheduled to take place in December 2017.
He also reiterated the pivotal role of the task force as underlined by the AFC’s Vision and Mission to enhance the level of professionalism and maximise the potential of the AFC Member Associations through focused and dedicated services.
