Former Indian international Shyam Thapa chaired the All India Football Federation’s Technical Committee Meeting at Hotel Asoka in New Delhi on Saturday, October 7.
Mr. Thapa lauded the Indian U-17 National Team for putting up a brave performance against the USA. “Given the fact they were playing for the first time in a FIFA World Cup they put in a good performance. We will only improve from here,” he said.
The Committee discussed at length the roadmap for the India U-19 National Team to qualify for the AFC U-19 Championship finals. India have been clubbed with hosts Saudi Arabia, Turkmenistan and Yemen in the AFC U-19 Champonship qualifiers to be held early next month. The Coach for the Championships will be finalised in due course.
The Committee also congratulated the Indian U-16 National Team for qualifying for the AFC U-16 Championship finals. “We need to have the best possible preparation for the U-16 boys in our quest to qualify for the U-17 World Cup to be held in 2019,” Mr. Thapa stated. “We need to play in more competitions to prepare better.”
