AFC’s Shaikh Salman hosts Kuwait FA President!

Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa today met with the Kuwait Football Association (KFA) President Abdullah Ahmed AlShaheen AlRabeea in the Malaysian capital.

Constructive discussions were held between the two Presidents on a range of football development topics and how the AFC could further aid the progress of Kuwaiti football.

Shaikh Salman commended his counterpart on Kuwait’s recent hosting of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2022™, as well as the hosts’ impressive performance in the event, which saw them reach the Quarter-finals.

“Kuwait held a truly amazing competition that also marked the comeback of futsal in Asia after a four-year break caused by the epidemic, and we are thankful to them for their initiative,” said Shaikh Salman.

“The AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2022™ and Kuwait’s success should provide a significant boost to the general game in the nation, spurring them to higher achievements, establishing a passion for the sport in the young, and motivating them to take up football and futsal,” Shaikh Salman continued.

The AFC President stated his commitment to assist the KFA in regaining their stride and producing the high-quality football that saw them win laurels not long ago. Kuwaiti club sides have dominated the AFC Cup™, with three titles (Kuwait SC in 2009, 2012, and 2013) and one runner-up result (Kuwait SC again in 2011).

“The AFC remains ready to give every assistance to the KFA in terms of the range of development programmes, including major development financing and technical experience,” added the AFC President.

The KFA President praised the AFC for its tailored engagement in all aspects of the game and congratulated Shaikh Salman for his leadership, vision, and dedication to developing Asian football.
