HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Football Association (JFA) and Chairman of the Asian Football Development Project (AFDP), welcomed to Jordan today His Excellency Jose Ramos-Horta, Former President of East Timor and Noble Laureate, and accompanied him to the Zaatari refugee camp in Northern Jordan.
During the visit to Zaatari, Prince Ali and HE Ramos-Horta witnessed one of the ongoing football training workshops organized by AFDP, and toured the facilities of the newly-inaugerated Zaatari House of Sports, which AFDP and the UEFA Foundation for Children established as a joint sports venue benefitting boys and girls of all age groups inside the camp.
Prince Ali and HE Ramos-Horta also discussed the role of sports in peace-building and conflict resolution, as well as ways to develop its capacity to improve the lives of displaced youth.
“HE Ramos-Horta is a true peace maker whose strong faith and determination continue to inspire the world, his warm visit to the Zaatati refugee camp and his commitment to children and victims of war is deeply appreciated,” Prince Ali noted.
