AIFF hands FC Pune City transfer ban after illegal Nestor Gordillo approach!

The All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) Player Status Commitee has imposed a two period transfer ban on Indian Super League franchise FC Pune City for attempting to recruit Spanish midfielder Nestor Gordillo from I-League champions Chennai City FC despite the player having a running contract.

This means that in the 2019/20 winter transfer window and the 2020 summer transfer window, FC Pune City will not be allowed to sign any new players, while they have been fined INR 500,000.

Further the committee has also issued a four-month ban on Gordillo for trying to illegally circumvent his contract with Chennai City FC. Gordillo has also been directed to pay a one-time compensation amounting to three months’ salary to Chennai City FC along with a fine of INR 50,000 to the AIFF.

Gordillo now will have to serve a four-month ban from playing in any official matches organised by or under the aegis of AIFF.

Chennai City FC had earlier approached the AIFF about the player tapping of Nestor Gordillo by FC Pune City, who still deny having done anything illegal, but without having spoken to Chennai City FC and having signed a written contract with the player, they have acted illegally.

Further I-League champions Chennai City FC have cancelled their contract with Spanish midfielder Nestor Gordillo to show that such player behaviour is unacceptable to them.
