Mizoram’s lone I-League entrants Aizawl FC yesterday had named their travelling squad to Kolkata for their I-League opener against East Bengal Club on Saturday, January 7 and some would have been surprised to find the names of former Mumbai FC duo Ashutosh Mehta and Jayesh Rane amongst them.
It came as a surprise that both wing back Ashutosh Mehta and winger Jayesh Rane, regulars for Mumbai FC in recent seasons, were not retained their their home town club.
But now the duo have joined Aizawl FC with the clubs new head coach Khalid Jamil having been their coach at Mumbai FC over the last few years and Khalid deciding to bring the duo to Mizoram.
In the recently concluded Indian Super League – Season 3, Ashutosh Mehta played for Mumbai City FC and Jayesh Rane had been with Chennaiyin FC.
