Al Fujairah SC sign Argentina legend Diego Maradona as new coach!

Argentinian legend Diego Armando Maradona has returned to coaching by signing as head coach of Al Fujairah SC who play in the UAE Division One (second tier).

Maradona on Sunday signed a one-year contract with an aim to qualify Al Fujairah SC for the UAE Pro League.

On his official Facebook account, Maradona announced, “I want to tell you that I am the new coach of Al-Fujairah SC, in the second division of the United Arab Emirates.”

Maradona, who has had limited success as a coach, is best known as a playmaker during his playing days lifting amongst other trophies the 1986 FIFA World Cup for Argentina while playing for Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors, FC Barcelona, SSC Napoli, FC Sevilla and Newell’s Old Boys before returning to Boca Juniors in his playing career.

As coach he was in charge of the Argentina national team from 2008 to 2010 and then spent a year with another UAE-based club Al Wasl between 2011 and 2012.
