The Mohammedan Sporting Club juniors have booked their place in the semifinals of the Oorja Cup 2017 being played at Siliguri.
The colts breezed past K.U. Charitable Trust 3-0 courtesy goals from Uttam Mitra, Kaushik Saha and Mahitosh Biswas, that allowed Mohammedan Sporting’s passage into the last four.
India is hosting the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup later this year, and the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has called for the support of not only children, but also parents to encourage boys and girls to play football and develop both skill and fitness.
In view of the appeal of the Prime Minister, the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) have been tasked to conduct the ‘Oorja Cup’ – CAPFs U-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament 2017. CAPFs jointly organizing the tournament under the aegis of All India Police Sports Control Board throughout the country from May 1 to 15, 2017. The North Bengal Frontier Border Security Force is tasked to conduct the tournament in the state of West Bengal.
Mohammedan Sporting will face the Mohun Bagan SAIL Football Academy in the first semifinal of the competition tomorrow at 3pm at the Kanchenjunga Stadium in Siliguri.
