All 37 Clubs of 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League fully compliant with CLOP!

With the third edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League, fast approaching, CAF is pleased to announce that all clubs participating in the qualifiers of the upcoming CAF Women’s Champions League, Cote D’Ivoire 2023 have met the requirements of the CAF Club Licensing Platform (CLOP) System.

In a bid to modernise and digitise the administration of all its competition, CAF has been on an aggressive drive of ensuring that all its 54 Member Associations are fully onboarded with the CAF Club Licensing Online Platform (CLOP) ahead of the new season of CAF Inter-Club competitions.

A total of 37 clubs, who will be partaking in the qualifiers of the CAF Women’s Champions League, Cote D’Ivoire 2023 have successfully completed and met all the requirements of the system – a significant step that the women’s game is taking on the continent.

According to the CAF Women’s Champions League competition regulations, all clubs must undergo a licensing process at the Member Association level and be granted a license to participate in the aforementioned competition.

Following the pilot implementation phase of the system during the first CAF Women’s Champions League editions (2021 and 2022), CAF has fully applied the requirements set out in CLOP and has made it absolutely mandatory for clubs to comply with the system as a prerequisite to competing in any CAF Inter-Club competition.

Also, worth noting in relation to the growth of the women’s game on the continent is that this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League competition will have four additional clubs to the initial 33 of the last two seasons.

The first phase of the competition kicks off in the next month at regional level before the continental phase takes place in Cote D’Ivoire later in the year.

Morocco’s AS FAR are the reigning champions of the tournament after dethroning Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa who won the first edition back in 2021.
