Antel sign up as National Supporter of 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay!

FIFA and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay, due to be held from November 13 to December 1, have announced the signing of Antel as a National Supporter.

Antel is the leader in the Uruguayan telecommunications sector and has a strong presence in several other South American countries, including Bolivia, Ecuador and Paraguay.

This agreement evidences Antel’s eagerness to step up its ongoing support for sport and particularly women’s football.

Marcelo Abreu, Director Marketing of Antel, sponsor of the Uruguayan national football, basketball, rugby and handball teams, stated, “We are very proud of our Uruguayan roots and the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is another opportunity for us to support Uruguayan sport and women’s football in particular. We would like to thank FIFA for giving us the chance to contribute to this ambitious project in Uruguay as a National Supporter.”

FIFA’s Chief Commercial Officer Philippe Le Floc’h stated, “With the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup just around the corner, we are proud to welcome Antel on board for this significant milestone for women’s football. With their help, we will be able to take this tournament to the next level and grow youth participation in football. Thanks to this agreement, the telecommunications organisation will benefit from extensive brand exposure during the tournament, as well as usage of selected FIFA marks in the Uruguayan territory, among other marketing rights.”

Valentina Prego, General Coordinator of the LOC, said, “The LOC is delighted that Antel have signed up as a National Supporter of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Uruguay 2018 and we would like to extend a warm welcome to them. It is an honour to have a company of their stature on board and they will undoubtedly add to the tournament. It is extremely important for the female game in our country to be able to count on the constant support of a company that resonates with all Uruguayans. Their involvement bears out that women’s football truly offers the ‘same game, same emotion’.”

The sixth edition of the U-17 Women’s World Cup will be held in three Host Cities: Montevideo, Colonia del Sacramento and Maldonado. This is the first time that Uruguay will be staging the event.
