Argentina beat France in epic 2022 FIFA World Cup final!

Argentina are the new World Champions after a remarkable 2022 FIFA World Cup final in which they beat France on penalties at the Lusail Stadium in Doha, Qatar on Sunday, December 18 night.

Argentina were in firm control of this game after Lionel Messi scored the first goal of the game via a penalty in the 23rd minute before Angel Di Maria doubled Argentina’s lead in the 36th minute.

The South Americans took a deserving 2-0 lead into the half-time break.

A crazy 97 second period saw Kylian Mbappe net twice to pull France level, first off a penalty in the 80th minute and a brilliant strike less than 100 seconds later.

Once more Lionel Messi restored Argentina’s lead in the 108th minute of extra-time but Mpabbe’s hattrick via another penalty in the 118th minute took the game to a penalty shootout.

Argentina triumphed 4-2 in the penalty shootout to start the celebrations. Keeper Emiliano Martinez saved to deny Kingsley Coman while Aurelien Tchouameni dragged his effort just wide.

Kylian Mbappe is just the second player to score three times in a FIFA World Cup final, matching the effort of England’s Geoff Hurst in 1966.

But the night belonged to Lionel Messi and Argentina, who lifted their third FIFA World Cup title.
