Armando Colaco set to take charge of East Bengal for remainder of the season!

After the resignation of Englishman Trevor James Morgan on Monday, the club officials by night decided to name former club coach Armando Colaco as the head coach for the remainder of the season, meaning the two I-League matches and the upcoming Federation Cup in Cuttack.

Further East Bengal have decided to form a panel comprising former players Bhaskar Ganguly, Manoranjan Bhattacharya and Tushar Rakshit, all of whom will oversee preparations and travel with the side. The trio will also work closely with coach Armando Colaco once he takes over.

It is an interesting turn of events, then different names were making the rounds about the East Bengal Club tent on the Kolkata Maidans on who could replace Trevor Morgan once he leaves, but his sudden departure forced the club management into naming someone for the remainder of the season and the decision fell on Armando Colaco, who is the most successful coach in the history of the NFL/I-League, but all his success came with Dempo SC, where he won five national league titles in total.

Armando Colaco coached East Bengal in his first stint from November 2013 to February 2015 with mixed results, winning just like Trevor Morgan the Calcutta Football League title, but unable to regain the I-League title which the red and gold faithfuls have been longing for years.

This season Armando Colaco had taken charge of newly formed Goan club FC Bardez with whom he played in the Goa Professional League and local tournament, but they were not allowed direct entry into the I-League and opted not to play the Second Division League, now he returns to the national stage at a critical time for the red and gold as it is now about defending their third place ahead of Bengaluru FC and Shillong Lajong FC in the I-League table and then playing the Federation Cup.
