The road to futsal’s biggest event became clear for four Asian teams, with match-ups for the AFC Playoffs for the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup – Lithuania revealed in a draw on Tuesday, April 27.
Iraq will face Thailand, while Vietnam will play Lebanon, with the respective winners of the two-legged playoffs to advance to global finals.
The first legs of the playoffs will be staged on May 20, with the return matches pencilled in for five days later.
The winners will complete the list of Asian Qualifiers, with Japan, Iran and Uzbekistan already assured of a place in the final draw based on historic results in recent AFC Futsal Championship tournaments.
Iraq will appear in the FIFA Futsal World Cup for the first time if they are successful in their clashes against 2012 hosts Thailand, while a maiden appearance also awaits Lebanon should they overcome Vietnam.
The 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup – Lithuania will get underway on September 12, with the final to be held in the city of Klaipėda on October 3.
