ATK Mohun Bagan drew first blood early on in the game in under three minutes when Manvir Singh’s deflected cross found Petratos who made no mistake in slotting it home. Amrinder Singh denied Manvir the opportunity to score a second just right after.
15 minutes into the first half, Vishal Kaith’s was pressured into a bad first touch which found Saul Crespo coming very close to restoring parity for the visitors. The custodian did just enough to clear the ball away right in the nick of time. The possession in the first half was even for both sides. 37 minutes into the game Nandha Kumar cut inside from the left flank and attempted a long ranger which was comfortably collected by Vishal.
Early on in the second half, Isaac Vanmalsawma picked out Carlos Delgado at the far post from a corner but the Spaniard’s optimistic attempt went over the bar. It was an absolutely cagey affair till the 80th minute when Ashish Rai played the ball cross across the face of the goal and Petratos had an easy tap in extending ATK Mohun Bagan’s lead to two goals.
The Eastern Dragons head to Chennai next to take on Chennaiyin FC on February 2.
