ATK sign experienced English winger Carl Baker for ISL-4!

Defending Indian Super League champions ATK today announced the signing of English winger Carl Baker for the upcoming ISL – Season 4.

34 year old Prescot-born Carl Paul Baker played at youth level for Liverpool FC before joining his home town club Prescot Cables before moving on to play four seasons for Southport FC. He spend a season at Morecambe FC before a couple at Stockport County FC.

In 2010 he joined Coventry City FC, whom he went on to captain from 2012 to 2014. He left Coventry in 2014 for fellow League One side Milton Keynes Dons, where he spend two season before playing for League Two side FC Portsmouth, where he scored nine goals in 47 appearances in a season which ended in promotion.

ATK principal owner Sanjiv Goenka said in a statement, “We welcome Carl Baker to be a part of the ATK family. I am sure his experience of playing top tier leagues in England will help ATK in the forthcoming season of the ISL.”

“We are already on our way to consolidate our team and the coaching staff is making some worthy choices to form a strong side,” Sanjiv Goenka added.

The experienced Carl Baker with over 450 professional career appearances in The Football League and The National League in England, Baker adds to the wings of the new look ATK under manager Teddy Sheringham.

Carl Baker said:, “It feels great to sign for a champion side like ATK. I am eager to experience Indian football which is going through some exciting times with ISL gaining popularity.”

“I have heard about the fans who are passionate about this beautiful game and hopefully I can give them enough reasons to rejoice by the end of the season,” Carl Baker added.
