Australia international Jason Cummings joins Mohun Bagan SG!

Australian international striker Jason Cummings has signed to join Mohun Bagan Super Giant for the 2023/24 season.

Mohun Bagan SG head coach Juan Ferrando said, “Everyone knows how good of a footballer Jason is. He enjoys playing a highly attacking and pressing style of football, which perfectly aligns with my strategy. He possesses excellent ball control, creating space for others, and is clinical in front of goal. Another admirable quality of his is – that he is a perfect team player.”

“It is a huge thing that a current FIFA World Cup player like Jason Cummings has agreed to come to India. This demonstrates the impact of the ISL on the growth of Indian football,” Juan Ferrando added.

27 year old Edinburgh born Jason Steven Cummings in his youth played locally for Hutchison Vale FC (twice), Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian.

It was at Hibernian that he made his senior debut before a transfer to Nottingham Forest took him south but he had loans spells with Glasgow Rangers, Peterborough United and Luton Town.

Cummings then joined Shrewsbury Town before returning to Scotland to play for Dundee FC. Last he played for the Central Coast Mariners, where he won the Australian A-League.

Cummings is a former Scotland youth international, who even played two friendlies for the Bravehearts before deciding to play for Australia due to having an Australian mother.

Jason Cummings said in a statement, “I have seen how passionate Mohun Bagan fans are.”

“My inbox is already flooded with wishes from fans. I would like to thank them for the warmth already shown and I can assure, I will give my best for you guys.”

“Mohun Bagan is also the defending champion of ISL and I hope I am able to contribute to the trophies cabinet in next three years of my stay.”

“Mohun Bagan SG wants to excel in AFC tournaments and that winning mentality made it clear that this is the club I would like to be part of as they have the same winning mentality like me.”
