Bayern Munich make three signings on Deadline Day!

German Bundesliga giants FC Bayern Munich have made three Deadline Day signings in right-back Bouna Sarr, winger Douglas Costa and striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

Bouna Sarr signs for Bayern Munich

FC Bayern have signed right-back Bouna Sarr from Olympique Marseille and he has been handed a contract until 2024.

FCB Board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic said, “Bouna Sarr is a dynamic right-back who fits in very well with the way we approach our game. He’ll help us in an important position. At 28, he brings stability and experience to the table, and we also believe that he’ll develop further at FC Bayern.”

Bouna Sarr said, “I’m very happy to be joining a great club like FC Bayern. It’s a dream come true and I will do everything I can to help continue the successful history of this club.”

The 28-year-old Sarr started his career with FC Gerland near his home town of Lyon. Via Olympique Lyon and FC Metz, he joined Olympique Marseille in 2015, where he scored eight goals in 181 appearances for the long-established French club. In 2017/18 he reached the final of the Europa League with Olympique Marseille.

Douglas Costa returns to Bayern Munich on loan

FC Bayern have signed Douglas Costa on loan from Juventus FC. The Brazilian, who played for the German record champions from 2015 to 2017, had moved from Munich to the long-established Italian club, where he has celebrated winning the Serie A championship every season since.

FCB Board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic said, “Douglas will strengthen us on the wings, which is important for our game. With Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman, Jamal Musiala and Douglas we now have top players in those areas. This gives the coach the opportunity to rotate the squad sensibly. Douglas knows FC Bayern and will settle in again very quickly.”

Douglas Costa said, “I’m very happy to be playing for FC Bayern again. I had a wonderful time in Munich with lots of successes and I’m sure we’ll win titles again.”

Costa (30) scored 14 goals in 77 competitive matches in his first spell at FC Bayern following his move from Shakhtar Donetsk. During his time in Munich, he celebrated two German championships, one DFB Cup win and also triumphed in the DFL Supercup. He made 103 appearances for Juventus FC, scored ten goals, won three championships, and lifted the Italian cup once as well as the Italian Supercup. To date he has made 31 appearances for the Brazilian national team and has scored three times.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting signs for Bayern Munich

FC Bayern have signed Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. The 31-year-old striker, who last played for UEFA Champions League finalists Paris Saint-Germain, has been handed a contract until June 30, 2021.

FCB Board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic said, “I’m glad we were able to sign Eric. He gives our squad depth in attack, especially in the centre, which we will need. Eric has gained European experience at Paris Saint-Germain, he knows the Bundesliga, and arrives on a free transfer. It all fits together very well.”

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting said, “It’s a great feeling coming back to the Bundesliga – and then to the biggest club in Germany. Who wouldn’t want to play for FC Bayern? It’s an honour to play for this club. It’s always Bayern’s aspiration to win everything, and I’m hugely motivated to help them achieve those goals.”
