Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer underwent successful surgery on his right knee joint on Sunday, February 6. FC Bayern will therefore have to do without their captain for the coming weeks.
“All of us in the club and the team wish Manuel a good and speedy recovery, and we’re sure he’ll be back to full fitness with us soon,” said FC Bayern board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic.
Only yesterday, Manuel Neuer brought up his 310th Bundesliga win on Saturday evening, thanks to FC Bayern’s 3-2 home success against RB Leipzig. In doing so, the Bayern captain equalled the previous record held by current CEO Oliver Kahn.
“It’s a very special number. But what matters is that we win as a team and stay top of the pile,” Neuer insisted afterwards.
