Bengaluru FC hammer Boca Juniors FS 5-0 in Hero Elite League!

Bengaluru FC secured a convincing 5-0 win over Boca Juniors Football School in a Round Two encounter in the zonal phase of the Hero Elite League at the Centre for Sports Excellence in Yelahanka on Thursday, December 26. Akashdeep Singh’s brace (24′,37′) alongside goals from Jagdeep Singh (36′), Sridarth Nongmeikapam (59′ pen) and substitute Ngangom Gunendro (70′) handed Young Blues their second win in as many games.

The big victory also took Naushad Moosa’s boys (6 points, GD +8) atop the standings in the Chennai-Bengaluru Group as they leapfrogged Ozone FC (6 points, GD +6) on goal difference.

The Young Blues who dominated the proceedings from the get go, took the lead in the 24th minute when Akashdeep scored on the second attempt from Jagdeep’s cross in from the right after his first effort was saved by the rival custodian.

Jagdeep then doubled the advantage in the 36th minute, capitalizing on a weak back pass by a rival defender before scoring from close range. A minute later, Akashdeep got his second after Sridarth did well to set him up for an easy tap-in inside the box following Fredy Chawgthansanga’s neat through ball.

The second half was a similar story, as Moosa’s boys continued to play their dominant game. Sridarth got on the score sheet in the 59th minute converting from the penalty spot after substitute Shighil NS was brought down in the rival box. Gunendro completed the rout with a well taken solo effort in the 70th minute as the Young Blues sealed their second win.

Bengaluru FC face Ozone FC next on January 1 at the Bengaluru Football Stadium.
