Bengaluru FC U-15s cruise past Subodhaya FC!

Bengaluru FC U-15s were at their goal-scoring best, beating Subodhaya FC 8-0 and picking up their fourth win of the KSFA ‘C’ Division League at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Saturday.

Lalpekhlua’s strikes (4′,9′,16′,18′,19′) were added to by Puinachandra Kangjam (10′) and Basudev CM’s brace (28′,30′), handing Rajan Mani’s side all three points.

The Bengaluru FC U-15 Academy side started brightly in the first-half and broke the deadlock after five minutes, when Lalpekhlua was fouled in the box and won and won a penalty, the skipper stepped up to the occasion and sent Ashish Biju the wrong way to make it 1-0. The 15-year-old took five more minutes to add to his tally of goals after he intercepted the opponent’s pass and took a shot low and into the corner to make it 2-0.

Kangjam added to Lalpekhlua’s early brace, picking up a pass outside the box before striking it with his laces and into the back of the net to make it 3-0 a minute later. Lalpekhlua scored a hat-trick inside 17 minutes, capitalising on a defensive error inside the box, the Subodhaya FC defender misjudged Ashik Adhikari’s cross and failed to clear his lines before the young forward pounced on the opportunity and grabbed his third.

Bengaluru FC showed no signs of slowing down and scored four more times before the referee blew his whistle for half-time. The best of the lot coming from the skipper – Lalpekhlua, who left the keeper grounded after taking a shot from 25 yards out which went into the top corner.

It wasn’t long before Basudev joined in on the action and scored twice to ensure an 8-0 lead at the end of the half.

Rajan Mani made multiple changes in the second half, and made way for younger players to gain experience through game time. Rohen Narengbam was called into action for the first time in the game when Rajesh Shankar took a shot which was parried away with ease.

The Young Blues play their final Group E encounter of the KSFA ‘C’ Division League against table toppers Pioneers FC at the same venue on April 13.
