Bengaluru FC’s U-15 Boys picked up their second win of the KSFA ‘C’ Division League against Stride FC at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Saturday, April 2. The Young Blues picked up a 1-0 victory with a last-minute header from Basudev (60′) through a well-worked corner.
It was a cagey first half with both teams struggling to create chances, Rajan Mani’s boys were in control of possession but couldn’t break past the Stride FC backline. Lalpekhlua came closest to opening the scoring after sprinting down the left flank before taking a shot on goal, which struck the post and came back into play.
Stride FC came close to breaking the deadlock, five minutes before the break, when Steven Vinod took a shot from the six-yard box but the striker missed the target. The Bengaluru FC U-15 side continued to push for the opener but failed to do so before the referee blew the whistle for half-time.
Into the second period, Lalpekhlua came closest to opening the scoring after attempting a free-kick from thr edge of the box, but his effort was comfortably collected by the `keeper. Bengaluru FC showed fight till the last minute of the game, when they finally broke the deadlock through a set-piece. A well-worked corner found an unmarked Basudev in the box, who headed into the ground and beyond the reach of the Stride FC goalkeeper.
The Bengaluru FC U-15 Boys kept their cool and ran down the clock to earn their second victory in as many games in the KSFA ‘C’ Division League. Bengaluru FC next face United RRnagar FC, on April 6 at the same venue.
