Bernardo Silva signs Manchester City extension until 2026!

Bernardo Silva has signed a new Manchester City contract, keeping him at the Club until the summer of 2026.

The Portugal midfielder joined City in the summer of 2017 and has made a huge contribution to our recent success.

With 308 appearances already, Bernardo has won five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, two Community Shields and the UEFA Champions League.

He has also scored 55 goals, most memorably hitting the two opening goals of the 4-0 victory over Real Madrid in the semifinal of the UEFA Champions League on the way to last season’s success.

And he is hoping to add even more silverware after signing a one-year extension at the Etihad.

“I’ve had six incredible years at Manchester City and I’m delighted to extend my time here,” Bernardo said.

“Winning the Treble last season was extremely special and it’s exciting to be part of a squad where there is such a hunger and passion.”

“Success makes you want even more, and this Club gives me that opportunity to keep on winning.”

“I love the manager, my team-mates and the fans and hope we can share even more great memories in the coming years.”

Director of Football Txiki Begiristain added, “Bernardo has been exceptional during his time at the Etihad, so we’re delighted that he has signed a contract extension with the Club.”

“His quality and technical ability is fantastic – and alongside his hard work and professionalism, he has become one of the best players in the world.”

“Bernardo was so important in our Treble-winning season and we are sure he can help deliver even more trophies in the next few years.”

As well as the 14 trophies Bernardo has won during his time at City, he was named in the PFA Team of the Year in 2018/19 and 2021/22 and the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season in 2022/23.

In 2018/19 he was City’s Player of the Year and won the Goal of the Season in 2021/22 for his brilliant volley against Aston Villa.

For Portugal, Bernardo has made 82 appearances and helped them win the 2019 UEFA Nations League where he was named Player of the Tournament.
