Former India captain Bhaichung Bhutia featured in a special video by FIFA, where footballing greats from around the world got together to applaud the people who are putting their own lives at risk, in order to help others during the COVID-19 pandemic.
While most of the known world is currently under lockdown, people working in essential services like healthcare, law enforcement, warehouses, shops, delivery services, public transport, and other sectors, have been at the frontline of the humanity’s battle against the virus.
FIFA thanked all these people in their #HumanitysHeroes campaign. In a statement, the world’s football governing body said: “To all of these heroic people: football thanks you, football remembers you and football supports you.”
The former India captain was joined by footballing legends like Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, Gianluigi Buffon, El Hadji Diouf, Samuel Eto’o, Carli Lloyd, Marta, Marco van Basten, Javier Zanetti, amongst others.
