As part of the USA trip, Borussia Dortmund will meet the English top club Chelsea FC in Chicago in the summer of 2023.
Under the motto “Back in Black & Yellow”, Borussia Dortmund will return to the USA in July and August after a four-year break due to the pandemic. The second match will be a clash with the English Premier League club Chelsea FC. It will kick off at Soldier Field on August 2 at 7.30pm local time. The best tickets will be available on pre-sale from Monday (May 1, 4pm). Tickets go on general sale on Tuesday (May 2, 4pm). The match with the Londoners will also see a reunion with former BVB professional Christian Pulisic. The two clubs only met in the last 16 of this year’s UEFA Champions League season, when BVB lost to the “Blues” (1:0, 0:2).
“After playing against Manchester United in Las Vegas a couple of days earlier it‘s a privilege for us to then clash with Chelsea FC, another Premier League heavyweight. Having met just recently in the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League, there‘s still a score to settle against them. Also, returning to Chicago and Soldier Field is special to us, almost like a home away from home as we‘re going to play here for the third time already over the decades,“ says BVB Managing Director Carsten Cramer.
After 1954, 2018 and 2019, black and yellow will make the trip across the Atlantic for the fourth time this summer, playing at Soldier Field for the third time in the club’s history. Sponsored by the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga and main sponsor EVONIK, BVB will visit several cities in the West and Midwest of the country from the end of July. A match with English record champions Manchester United has already been announced. The match will be played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on July 30, kick-off is 6pm local time.
