Bundesliga: VfL Wolfsburg name Bruno Labbadia as their new head coach!

After the resignation of their Swiss head coach Martin Schmidt, struggling German Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg have named Bruno Labbadia as their new head coach until July 2019.

Bruno Labbadia takes over as head-coach of VfL Wolfsburg with immediate effect after on Tuesday morning, VfL agreed terms with the 52 year old, who has signed a contract with the Wolves until summer 2019.

“We are delighted to have won over Bruno Labbadia for VfL. We now must all look to the future and approach the challenges ahead calmly and determinedly,” insisted VfL general-manager Dr. Tim Schumacher, while Director of Sport Olaf Rebbe added, “Bruno Labbadia is a very experienced coach, who has proven his qualities in the Bundesliga on many occasions.”

Bruno Labbadia held his first training session with the first team on Tuesday afternoon.

“I feel, good, relaxed and I am very much looking forward to the collaboration with my new team,” stated Labbadia. The former top Bundesliga striker has previously been head coach at SV Darmstadt 98, SoVgg Greuther Fürth, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Hamburger SV (twice) and VfB Stuttgart in his 15 years of coaching.
