CAF General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba has toured facilities at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium and Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium as preparations for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023 intensifies.

The visits are part of a three-day tour to four venues: Alassane Ouattara Stadium, Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Yamoussoukro and Bouake.

The visits to Yamoussoukro and Bouake will take place on Wednesday, 22 November 2023.

Mosengo-Omba on Monday afternoon had a first-hand feel and acquaint himself with the state of readiness for the two stadia as Cote d’Ivoire prepares to host the rest of the continent and the world from 13 January to 11 February 2024.

Together with CAF operational staff and members of the Local Organising Committee, Mosengo-Omba expressed satisfaction with the facilities at the state-of-the-art Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, on the outskirts of the capital, Abidjan. The newly built 60,000-capacity stadium will host the opening match between host Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea Bissau, as well as the final.

He had a tour of key areas including Hospitality, Media, Broadcasting, Safety and Security as staff fine-tunes the venue for the showpiece football event.

At the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, one of two venues when Cote d’Ivoire hosted the AFCON in 1984, the CAF General Secretary was pleased with the massive transformation of the iconic home of Ivorian football in preparations for the tournament. The stadium will host Group B made up of Cape Verde, Egypt, Ghana and Mozambique.

Mosengo-Omba commended the Government of Cote d’Ivoire led by President Alassane Ouattara for their huge investment in terms of Infrastructure, and their unflinching support towards getting all facilities across the country ready for the tournament.
