The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Grassroots Charter welcomed the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC) as a bronze member in March 2024.
Upon completing their assessment, the AFC Grassroots panel members were pleased to note the FFC’s commitment to nurturing football talent at the grassroots level and its efforts towards expanding the reach of the beautiful game.
In its ambition to strengthen the standards of football across the country, the FFC has established a commendable system with grassroots committee members stationed across various provinces to supervise coaches in each area.
Through this approach, the FFC has successfully forged strategic partnerships, allowing special attention to be dedicated to aspects such as the development of women’s football within the region, contributing to the holistic development of the sport.
At the same time, the FFC has also joined hands with Cambodia’s Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, and other national institutions to implement several player development programmes and activities across the country’s provinces.
With a primary focus on encouraging mass participation across age groups, the FFC undertook the initiative to host a series of tournaments for children in the U12 and U14 categories, which witnessed the participation of almost 450 youngsters.
Additionally, the AFC assessors were delighted to note that the FFC has also introduced a number of championships under the Football for Schools programme, a collaborative initiative of FIFA and UNESCO which seeks to make football more accessible to both boys and girls around the world by incorporating football activities into the education system.
“Success is not just about achieving a goal, but about the journey and the impact it has on others. We are proud to have achieved a bronze level membership under the AFC Grassroots Charter, and are committed to continuing to inspire and develop the next generation of footballers,” said FFC General Secretary Keo Sareth.
The Football Federation of Cambodia is the 41st Member Association of the AFC to be endorsed by the AFC Grassroots Charter.
