CAS dismisses the appeal field by Albanian side KS Skenderbeu!

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed the appeal filed by the Albanian football club Klubi Sportiv Skënderbeu against the decision issued by the UEFA Appeals Body on April 26, 2018 (the “Challenged Decision”), which confirmed the decision issued on March 29, 2018 by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (the UEFA CEDB) which found KS Skënderbeu responsible for various match-fixing activities and excluded the club from participating in the UEFA Club Competitions for which it would qualify during the next ten years, and ordered the club to pay a fine of EUR 1,000,000.

In May 2018, KS Skënderbeu filed an appeal at the CAS seeking to have the Challenged Decision and the disciplinary sanction annulled. The CAS arbitration was conducted by a Panel of CAS arbitrators who held a hearing with the parties at the CAS headquarters on April 16, 2019.

On the basis of the evidence available, the CAS Panel found to its comfortable satisfaction that KS Skënderbeu was responsible for match-fixing activities and concluded that the sanctions imposed in the UEFA CEDB decision were proportionate and justified. Accordingly, it dismissed the appeal and confirmed the Challenged Decision.
