The 16 teams for the AFC U-20 Asian Cup in Uzbekistan was finalised on Tuesday with Australia topping Group H with a perfect record of three wins.
Australia defeated Iraq 1-0 in their final match at the Ali Sabah Al-Salem Stadium in Kuwait City.
There was, however, cheer for Iraq despite the defeat as they advanced as one of the best five runners-up.
Group H’s conclusion meant Vietnam, Kyrgyz Republic, China PR and Syria joined Iraq in the Finals as the best five second-placed teams.
The other nine group winners were decided in September with 2018 champions Saudi Arabia (Group A), Qatar (Group B), Japan (Group C), Jordan (Group D), Korea Republic (Group E), Indonesia (Group F), Oman (Group G), Tajikistan (Group I) and Iran (Group J) the sides to advance.
The 2023 AFC U-20 Asian Cup in Uzbekistan is scheduled for March 1-18.
