CONCACAF announces schedule for 2022 CONCACAF League final between LD Alajuelense & CD Olimpia!

CONCACAF has announced the schedule for the Finals of the 2022 Scotiabank CONCACAF League (SCL). The two-legged series between LD Alajuelense (CRC) and CD Olimpia (HON) is scheduled for October 26 (first leg) and November 2 (second leg), in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and Alajuela, Costa Rica, respectively.

Alajuelense have qualified for their second SCL final in three years after playing to a 2-2 draw with Honduran club Real España in the second leg semifinal. With Tuesday’s result in Alajuela, the Costa Rican side earned a 5-2 aggregate victory.

In the night’s second semifinal and in front of a sold-out Estadio Chelato Ucles, a strike from Carlos Sanchez in the final minutes earned Olimpia a dramatic 1-0 win over rivals Motagua and a place in the Final. The late goal gave the winners of the inaugural SCL in 2017 a 1-0 victory on aggregate in the series.

The schedule for the Finals is as follows, with the home club listed first and in ET (local time):

Wednesday, October 26, 2022
21:00 (19:00) CD Olimpia vs LD Alajuelense – Estadio Chelato Ucles, Tegucigalpa, Honduras

Wednesday, November 2, 2022
21:00 (19:00) LD Alajuelense vs CD Olimpia – Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto, Alajuela, Costa Rica

To determine which club will host the second leg of the 2022 SCL, CONCACAF has ranked the two finalists based on their results in the earlier rounds of the competition (wins, draws, and, if required, goal difference).

After the semifinal results, the standings are as follows (also available here):

1. LD Alajuelense, 14 pts (+11 GD)
2. CD Olimpia, 14 pts (+8 GD)

Fans will be able to enjoy the Finals through the Confederation’s TV partner networks, including TUDN | ViX (USA-Spanish), OneSoccer (Canada), Fox Sports Mexico (Mexico-Spanish), ESPN (Central America, Caribbean, and South America), and other local partners.

For other territories, it will be available on the Official CONCACAF App (Apple and Google Play stores), and CONCACAF’s Facebook and YouTube pages (all subject to territory restrictions).
