Cristiano Ronaldo leaves Real Madrid to join Juventus FC!

In the most spectacular transfer of the summer, Portugal captain and five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo has left Spanish LaLiga giants Real Madrid to join Italy’s Juventus FC of Turino on a four year contract.

In the official press release the Italians stated, “Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that the agreement with Real Madrid Club De Fùtbol S.p.A. for the definitive acquisition of the registration rights of the player Dos Santos Aveiro Cristiano Ronaldo has been reached for a consideration of € 100 million payable in 2 financial years, in addition to the solidarity contribution provided by FIFA regulations and additional costs of € 12 million. Juventus and the player have signed a 4-year contract of employment until 30 June 2022.”

It had become clear in recent weeks that Cristiano Ronaldo thought that Real Madrid and its management did not value him and his contribution enough and that the 33 year old wanted a change.

There was said to be interest from his former club Manchester United and French Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain, but then Juventus showed concrete interest and the deal was sealed and signed quickly.

Real Madrid meanwhile stated, “Real Madrid C.F. inform that, as per Cristiano Ronaldo’s wishes and at his request, the club has allowed the player to complete his move to Juventus F.C.

Real Madrid would today like to place on record its thanks to a player who has shown himself to be the best in the world and made his mark on one of the greatest periods in our club’s history and on the world game.

Apart from the titles he has lifted, the honours secured and the on-field achievements during these nine years, Cristiano Ronaldo has been a role model in terms of commitment, hard work, responsibility, talent and self-improvement.

In total, he won 16 pieces of silverware, including four European Cup crowns, three of which came in successive years, with these four continental triumphs coming in the past five seasons. In terms of individual honours, as a Real Madrid player, he won the Ballon d’Or on four occasions, The Best award twice and claimed the Golden Shoe three times, amongst many other accolades.
