Crystal Palace FC sign Christian Benteke from Liverpool FC for record fee!

Crystal Palace FCEnglish Premier League side Crystal Palace FC have signed Belgium international striker Christian Benteke from Liverpool FC for a club record fee of £27 million Pounds on a four year contract which would keep him in London until June 2020.

The 25-year-old is the Eagles’ fourth summer signing after Andros Townsend, James Tomkins and Steve Mandanda.

Benteke has scored 51 times in the Premier League over the past four seasons after joining Aston Villa from Belgian club KRC Genk in 2012. After three impressive campaigns with the Birmingham based-side, he made a £32.5 million move to Liverpool FC last summer where he scored 10 times for the Reds, including one against Palace at Selhurst Park which happened to be his second after he had achieved the same with Aston Villa the season before.

A former Belgian First Division winner with Standard Liege in 2009, Benteke has netted six times in 26 outings for his country and represented them at Euro 2016 in France this summer.

After signing his new four year contract, Benteke said, “I’m very happy to commit my future to Crystal Palace and I’m looking forward to meeting the manager, the players and the staff. I feel really happy that the deal has been done and now I can look forward because it’s been going on for a long time, but now I think everything is going to be OK.”

“I’ve met the manager a few times before I signed and that’s why I wanted to come here. I was really happy to hear about his project and that is why I am excited to come here. I did my own research too and there are some great wingers here and because of that I think I can be a success here,” Benteke added.
