Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu storm into last 4 of Diu Beach Games 2024!

Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu became the first team to reach the semi-finals of the Beach Soccer competition in the Diu Beach Games 2024 after winning both their matches so far in Group A.

The tournament, which began on Sunday, saw the home side routing Rajasthan 7-2, thanks to a three-goal performance by Laishram Prosanannda Singh. The prolific scorer shone again on Monday, January 7, 2024, when Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu edged past a fighting Gujarat 7-6. This time Prosanannda struck four goals to take his tally of goals to seven from two matches.

Another team to win big on Sunday were Gujarat, who outplayed Andaman and Nicobar 14-5 with Tufel Hingora alone accounting for four goals for the winners.

Beach soccer is fast gaining momentum in India. In 2023, both the National Championships in Surat and the National Games in Goa were keenly contested and raised considerable spectators’ interest.
