The Debanjan Cup 2017, organised by the Debanjan Sen Foundation, a Kolkata School football tournament is set to formally kick off tomorrow with 40 schools in total taking part.
The Debanjan Sen Foundation founded in the name of the late Debanjan Sen, who died at a very young age in a road accident in Kolkata and he was someone who was football crazy and was working for the Football Players Association of India (FPAI) at the time.
On the opening day of the Debanjan Cup yesterday, an exhibition match was held between FPAI XI and the East Bengal Under-19s at the East Bengal ground which the red and gold juniors won 3-0. The FPAI XI featured current players like C.S. Sabeeth, Manish Maithani, Biswajit Saha, Avinabo Bag, and Ayan Das Sharma, besides former players like Basudeb Mondal and Anit Ghosh.
