Delhi Dynamos FC is all set to take on NorthEast United FC, as they look to kick-start their home campaign in ISL-3. The Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Delhi is ready to play host to what promises to be a keenly fought game between the two sides.
The Lions, as the Delhi Dynamos FC are popularly known, are unbeaten against the team from Guwahati with two wins and two draws from their earlier games in the previous editions of the Indian Super League.
Commenting on the encounter with NorthEast United FC, Gianluca Zambrotta, Head Coach of Delhi Dynamos said, “We are really excited for our first home game of the season. We’ve had some really exciting matches with NEUFC in the past and I’m sure that having our home crowd behind us will help. The boys are all ready for a good game of football and it will be a hard fought contest.”
“I’m very happy with the way the squad is training and the level is going up day by day. North-East United FC not only has a good defensive game but has a very good front three who are all good strikers and we will try our best in tomorrow’s match. For me it’s important that we adapt for each game and concentrate to bring all the players together, in attack as well as defence,” he added.
Delhi Dynamos goalkeeper Toni Doblas, who was part of the squad in the last ISL-2 season, said, “The new NorthEast United FC team is better than the last season and appear to be more organised and complete. However, this is our first game at home and we’ll try to win. We have a squad consisting of some very good players.”
What makes the match extra special is that the game is dedicated to the empowerment of the Girl Child. Delhi Dynamos FC has undertaken a host of measures to spread awareness for the cause including complimentary tickets to various NGO’s, felicitation of the Delhi Dynamos FC Under-17 girls squad, involving girls as mascots and ball girls during the match dedicated to the cause.
Both the teams have made excellent starts to their campaign in the current edition of the Indian Super League, with Delhi Dynamos scoring a comprehensive win away to defending champions Chennaiyin FC in their opening match with a 3-1 scoreline and then played a goalless draw against Kerala Blasters FC and are currently placed fourth after having played two matches in the league standings. NorthEast United are currently sitting at the top of the table with three wins and one loss from their four matches.
