Delhi FC register seventh win as they beat Sudeva Delhi FC in Delhi Premier League!

Delhi FC arrived at the Ambedkar Stadium to play their seventh fixture in the Delhi Premier League against Sudeva Delhi FC. Delhi FC had previously won all six of their games so far.

Delhi FC were dominating possession early on as usual, but couldn’t fashion any real openings in the first quarter of an hour. They then introduced Dipanda Dicka and Himanshu Jangra in the fray around the half hour mark to add some cutting edge in attack.

Jangra’s pace was causing Sudeva Delhi some problems, and it almost earned Delhi FC a penalty, as a corner that the 17-year old won was taken short and there were big appeals for a foul inside the box, but the referee decided to wave play on.

Sudeva Delhi had a good chance in the 37th minute as a lapse in concentration in the Delhi FC defense gave away the ball, and a shot from 25 yards was heading for the top corner, but James Kithan made a fantastic save.

In the 43rd minute, some good work from Sergio Barboza down the right opened up a chance for Jangra, whose first time effort went over the bar.

Delhi FC should’ve definitely opened the scoring in the 44th minute, as a looped ball in sat well for Dicka, whose header went over.

It was 0-0 at half-time.

Nikhil Mali then came on in the second half to add more firepower in attack, and he made an impact around the hour-mark as his intended cross hit a hand and the referee pointed to the spot. Himanshu Jangra stepped up to take it and put it away with ease to give Delhi FC the lead.

In the 82nd minute, Dicka headed it on to Sergio Barboza in the box, who made no mistake in taking the ball in his stride and putting it away with his left foot for 2-0.

Sudeva Delhi then had an immediate response, as former Minervan Nischal Chandan struck a fantastic first-time volley into the back of the net. However, it proved to be too little too late for Sudeva, who couldn’t breach the Delhi FC defense again for an equalizer.

With that, Delhi FC registered their seventh successive win in the Delhi Premier League, keeping their 100% record intact and sitting pretty on top of the table. They now play their next game against Garhwal FC in their next match.
