DFL’s Christian Seifert: There must be no place for any kind of hate!

The Bundesliga game between TSG Hoffenheim and FC Bayern Munich on Saturday, February 29 was interrupted several times after defamation from the FC Bayern fan block against Dietmar Hopp. The two teams then reacted to the incident by only passing the ball in a friendly manner until the final whistle, with the applause from the audience.

Christian Seifert, Managing Director of the DFL, said, “The permanent hostility against Dietmar Hopp has long been unacceptable and must be condemned severely. We experienced a sad climax in this regard today. There is no excuse for that. All those involved – players, the referee team and those responsible from Bayern Munich and TSG Hoffenheim, as well as a very, very large number of stadium visitors – acted in an exemplary manner in this situation and thus sent a clear signal to some self-proclaimed rulers of football culture, but not such derailments to tolerate more. There must be no place for any kind of hate. This must be the goal of all German professional football.”
