East Bengal score 2-1 comeback win over Southern Samity in CFL!

Calcutta Football LeagueEast Bengal Club scored a 2-1 comeback victory over Southern Samity in their sixth Calcutta Football League’s Premier Division – A match at the floodlit Barasat Municipal Stadium in Kolkata last evening.

Defending champions East Bengal moved to 18 points from six matches, while Southern Samity remain on seven points from five matches.

Southern Samity shocked their more famed opponent in the 7th minute when M. Basanta Singh headed in a cross from Taurus Manneh. East Bengal after going behind needed time to settle down, but once they did they attacked Southern Samity. The result was the equaliser in the 35th minute when a Mehtab Hossein corner was headed in by Jiten Murmu.

East Bengal went ahead just before the break as the referee Ajit Dutta gave a penalty for handball and Do Dong Hyun gave the red and gold their first lead of the day.

The second session was mostly East Bengal, but the result stayed the same as the red and gold won their sixth CFL match in a row to top the league.
