East Bengal sign Salam Ranjan Singh & Gabriel Fernandes, retain Luis Xavier Barreto!

Kolkata giants East Bengal Club have continued in their team building process despite the final structure of Indian club football for the 2017/18 season being unclear.

The red and gold signed talented defender Salam Ranjan Singh from Bengaluru FC and midfielder Gabriel Fernandes from Mumbai City FC, while experienced goalkeeper Luis Xavier Barreto has decided to extend his stay in Kolkata.

21 year old Salam Ranjan Singh born in Kha-Potessangbam, Manipur is a product of the former Pune FC Academy. He also made his professional debut at Pune FC and then after their team was disbanded he played for Bengaluru FC in the I-League and NorthEast United FC in the Indian Super League. Salam is currently part of the India Under-22s which is preparing for the 2018 AFC U-23 Championship qualifiers.

29 year old Gabriel Fernandes is an experienced midfielder on the Indian circuit. After playing for Dempo SC and Sporting Clube de Goa in his youth, he debuted with Sporting Goa at senior level and stayed with them for three seasons. He thereafter played for Mumbai FC, Dempo SC, FC Goa (on loan), Pune FC (on loan) and then for Mumbai City FC.

36 year old Luis Xavier Barreto is like Gabriel from Goa, but in the I-League he has been playing for East Bengal since 2014. The Nuvem-born keeper started his career locally in Goa before getting a break with Sporting Clube de Goa before playing for Dempo SC, Mumbai FC (on loan), Mohammedan Sporting Club (on loan), Kerala Blasters (on loan) and FC Goa (on loan).
