Eintracht Frankfurt apply for new club reserve team!

Eintracht Frankfurt have applied to the Hessian Football Association (HFV) for a reserve team, Eintracht Frankfurt II, to be included in the Hesse league for the 2022/23 season onwards.

The main purpose of this measure is to ensure a pathway for talented youngsters from the Eintracht Frankfurt academy to the first team, and to further enhance the transition from ambitious youth football to professional football.

Eintracht previously had an U-23 team in the 2013/14 season, which played in the Regionalliga Südwest but was disbanded for financial reasons, among others.

Markus Krösche, Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG board member for sport, explained, “For our continued strategic focus on youth development and as a transition to the first team, it’s important to have a strong foundation. It’s not just important that talented youngsters have the opportunity to play competitive men’s football every week, thereby being able to take the next step in their development, but also hugely important that young prospects from the first team, who are not yet permanent members of the regular squad, gain competitive match experience at the highest possible level.”

The Hessian Football Association is expected to make a decision on the application by the end of February 2022.
