Eintracht Frankfurt extend Igor Matanovic’s contract!

Igor Matanovic has signed an extension to his contract, which was due to expire in summeer 2026, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2029.

The 1.94-metre striker is currently on loan at Bundesliga 2 club Karlsruher SC until the end of the season. With ten goals and three assists in 23 outings so far, he is among the leading marksmen in the division.

The Hamburg native arrived at Eintracht Frankfurt last summer from boyhood club FC St. Pauli, and scored four goals across pre-season friendlies against FSV Braunfels, TSV Steinbach Haiger and SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz. He will return to Frankfurt in time for pre-season preparations ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

“Igor has a great character,” said Eintracht Frankfurt board member for sport Markus Krösche. “He’s ambitious and has continued to develop really well. We’re pleased he’ll play for Eintracht in the long term. We’ve showed him the path we’d like to take with him. Igor will be an integral part of our team from the summer onwards.”

“Last summer I had a taste of what it means to play in an Eintracht shirt in some friendlies,” Matanovic said. “I really enjoyed that feeling and I’m happy about the faith the club have put in me. I want to pay that back with good performances from the summer onwards. Obviously I will continue to give my best for my current club until then.”
