Despite the still limited possibilities in the context of the pandemic, the following also applies to internationalization at Eintracht Frankfurt: The show must go on.
Once around the world in eight hours? Corona makes it possible! Well, of course not entirely true. Long-distance travel has of course not become faster or less complicated because of the virus, on the contrary. But the digital formats, which have been booming for almost a year and a half, make it possible. At eight o’clock in the morning, practically for breakfast in China, and at four in the afternoon in the USA.
This is what happened most recently as part of the Virtual Coach Clinics 2021, a series of digital coaching workshops organized by Eintracht Frankfurt for partners in the target markets mentioned. SGE experts Nicolai Adam (Head of International Sports Cooperation) and Armin Kraaz (Head of Sports Projects America) recently used a total of 32 hours, plus extensive question-and-answer sessions, to introduce clubs and institutions to the training philosophy of Eintracht.
Almost 100 young trainers from the network and the ranks of the two US clubs Forward Madison (Wisconsin) and Cleveland Force (Ohio) as well as the Federation of University Sports China (FUSC) and the Nanshan Foreign Language School (NFLS) were able to benefit. Also there, the two Eintracht brand ambassadors Oka Nikolov and Alexander Schur, who, with their experience as professionals on the pitch and as coaches on the sidelines, gave valuable insights into the training work then and now and at the same time contributed to making the tradition of Eintracht tangible do.
“Authenticity is extremely important to us,” says Nicolai Adam, who has worked as a player, football teacher and FIFA instructor around the world. “Of course we want to convey our know-how and give our partners valuable impulses for their daily work on the pitch. At the same time, we also want to convey what defines Eintracht Frankfurt and make people feel this amazing story. Personalities like Oka or Schui are worth gold for that.”
And that was well received, as you can see from the consistently positive feedback – or to close with a quote from the anonymous evaluation sheet: “I really enjoyed the positive and friendly attitude of the Eintracht hosts. The topics provided a lot of food for thought and encouraged me to make changes in my training work. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity – it was a rewarding event from which I was able to draw a lot. Many Thanks!”
